How hard can it be? Humankind, as evidenced by the
fossil record, is surviving via a hunter-gatherer society for
tens of thousands of years. So, here you are, sitting around
a campfire (circa 50,000 years ago) after spending a full
friggin' day tryin' to find and slay a wild boar. Not too popu-
lar a camper are you. The bitch is off in the cave somewhere
tendin' to the youngin's. The fellow wild boar-hunters are out
smokin' somethin' but definitely shunnin' you.

...

So, you gaze up at the stars and you're yearnin' for some-
thin', anything, that would give you the power to find and
kill a wild boar. Somethin', anything, that would put you in
good stead with your hunting buddies, with your mate, with
your kids...

...

Don't yuh think, just maybe, that an imaginary power might
be somethin' that would catch your fancy? Don't yuh think,
just maybe, that over the millenia of time, not only of your
evolved species, but going back millions of years to your
ancestors, that maybe, just maybe, there would have been
an opportunity to cook up some cockamamie notions of
invisible and silent deities to "help" you in whatever your
particular hunting and gathering goals happened to be?

...

Don't yuh think, just maybe, that said myths and superstitions
would carry on for tens of thousands of years until humankind
developed spoken language, written language, culture, art,
and civilization?

...

Don't yuh think, just maybe, that said myths and superstitions
would become so entrenched in human culture than even
though intelligence had advanced to the point where any
logical thought would dispose of said myths and superstitions
as ancient absurdities from human origins, many if not most
would continue in ancient traditions based on sexual-social
patterns of non-thinking from humankind's ignorant origins?

...

Duh, how hard can it be to figure out the whys and wherefores
of humankind's religious fantasies on this planet?
