Faith / Claims / Doubt / Silence
(Top Posts - Distance From Belief
in christianity - 042501)
For
those devout "at all cost" faith-followers of
western-dominant faith ilk ...
Your reluctance to consider anything that ques-
tions your bible or your faith places your position
in serious doubt, if that is, indeed, the manner
in which you cling to faith.
Clearly, you must understand, that if someone
writes "And God said go forth young man and
tempt not the bird from which the soul of the
beast shall spring forth", that doesn't make the
statement true.
That doesn't make it true if it's put on fancy paper,
wrapped with a fancy cover, and called a holy
document.
That doesn't make it true if three billion people
believe it to be true.
That doesn't make it true if the statement is issued
forth by authority figures in temples, churches,
synagogues, mosques, the world over.
That doesn't make it true if authority figures claim
it's the absolute truth.
You see, the statement "And God said go forth
young man and tempt not the bird from which the
soul of the beast shall spring forth" could only be
true if the event actually occurred.
Saying it occurred just doesn't make it true.
Promising you will live in heaven if you believe it
true, that also doesn't make the statement true.
Threatening those who disbelieve the statement
with eternal torment, that also doesn't make the
statement true.
Now, that's an easy logic/doubt test for you as
I made up the statement. God didn't say it (what
a concept, stating that an imaginary being didn't
say something, as if any statement regarding an
imaginary being could be assessed from a rational
evidence for/evidence against basis).
Let's face it - I concocted the statement, I am the
only evidence that such an event is untrue, as I
made it up, only I can refute it ... see where I'm
going, there, as all the God ____ stuff in the bible
is the same made-up formula.
Only the humans who made up the stuff can say
"it ain't true - I made it up".
Even though it sounds high-fallutin' like most of
the edicts in the bible, it has nothing to do with
a supreme creator of the universe. It's just not true.
You absolutely cannot just accept some claim of
truth without questioning whether or not it's true, as
to just accept claims without evidence is little more
than blindly following something without a clue of
whether it's really true or not.
Church scholars have traced the bible documents
back to their human-created origins/times/places.
These are human documents, written by humans
for human reasons, over a time period a bit over
1,000 years long.
There is not one iota of evidence that any god was
involved in any way, shape, or form.
Wanting it to be so doesn't make it so.
Using the word God or YAHWEH or any of the
other deified names over and over and over and
over and over in the writings of humans, as if such
things existed in real life, doesn't make it true.
Over a billion muslims follow the writings of the
qur'an and bow to Mecca. Does this make the
human writings of the qur'an true? Of course not.
Likewise is the case for the human writings of the
christian bible.
Please do consider a little doubt on your journey
down belief lane for without doubt, you're nothing
but a slave to the desires of the ancient humans
who wrote the documents you're following and
a slave to the desires of the authority figures who
use the blind faiths to manipulate and control
humans on this earth, at this time, in this life.
And what about the silence of God in the modern
day? I just don't get it.
For those of faith, please explain to me ...
How god did his myth-spin on origins of life, lan-
guage, and such ...
Did his human-sacrifice as somehow relevant spin ...
Left the whole show up to humans without a clue
who used the whole show to torture and torment
humankind for well over a thousand years ...
Left most of humankind in the dark (clue ... India,
China, most of Asia, native America) ...
And ...
For some blind faith "reason", humans are now
threatened into "believing" all the afore-mentioned
stuff is somehow true revelation of real super
being thingies and real super being places, or else?
Somehow, the whole silence gig just doesn't seem
worthy anymore. What do *you* think? It is *your*
life, after all, not to mention the lives of those you
impact ...
