Nice Things
(Top Posts - Philosophy (FREELOVER) - 011701)

Just posting some nice things. Sometimes, communication
gets hostile in here and it seems people forget how nice life
can be. Oh sure, there's cancer, death, trauma, poverty,
starvation, blackmail, threats, fear, diabetes, epilepsy, sickle
cell anemia, AIDS, plague, drought, malaria, loneliness, etc...
but thank goodness, at least in these newsgroups, from time
to time (too infrequent in my view), nice things are said.

Don't forget to love. We're it thus far, all that we know of,
beings with only one another for caring/sharing in an all-but
incalculably vast universe. Let's take care of one another
and cherish our time we have together to experience all that
we can know.

Isn't it nice that there's no likelihood that the threats from
the ancients are true regarding our children being sent to
hell? I think so. Too bad that nice thought wasn't shared
with many of us when we were younger. That would have
been nice.

One comment on truth. We (those of us exposed to the
fabric of believing in silent and invisible things as reality)
can totally relate to the belief position from the standpoint
of believers.

If you've been -or- are in that belief mode, you know the
whys and wherefores behind the belief and you know why
folks of faith believe that what they've been told to be true
is true. Don't forget the whys and wherefores undergirding
disbelief, too, as those have nice things going for them,
despite the unwillingness of disbelievers to promise eternal
life - it's just that honesty prevents us from exceeding our
knowledge in that area, and some of us have a naturalistic
hope for a pleasant continued existence. That's nice, too,
the honesty and the hope.
