Prior to Attack on U.S., U.S. Attack On Bin Laden Being Staged

American officials, in mid-July, had informed a former Pakistani Foreign Secretary that the U.S. would attack both Bin Laden and the Taleban leader, Mullah Omar, by mid-October at the latest.

The toppling of the Taleban regime was to result from the attack. The only way to avoid the attack would have been the swift turnover of Bin Laden.

Key point - if this is true, is there a hell of a lot more that the U.S. government and military aren't telling the American people as pertains to the possible knowledge of attacks on or attacks by forces tied to the Taleban?

Possible staging points were Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (with the possible aid of 17,000 Russian troops there).

With those plans already in place, the Pakistani Foreign Secretary projects that the U.S. attack will now come within the next two to three weeks.

Glucose-Producer Found - May Help Diabetics

The molecular on-off switch that controls the production of blood glucose has been found. The switch, a protein called PGC-1, is fine-tuned in a non-diabetic to turn on when a person has been fasting.

In type 1 diabetics, no insulin is produced and the glucose switch is constantly in the "on" position, leading to high blood glucose levels if insulin isn't injected or pumped in on a manually controlled basis.

The discovery of the switch for glucose production may allow drugs to be developed to reduce excessive glucose production in type 1 diabetics.

Gene Therapy May Reduce Chance of Blindness

By preventing overgrowth of blood vessels in the eyes, gene therapy may some day be used to reduce the chance of blindness.

The gene therapy may prevent the leading causes of blindness in developed countries, diabetic retinopathy & macular degeneration. Currently, laser treatments or surgery are used to treat these conditions but the blood vessels tend to grow back.
