Faith-Based
Initiative Test (Top Posts - Social/Legal - 110908) - - - For those considering the Obama version of the Bush faith-based initiative program, you have a decision to make: - - - Decision Tree 1) Faith has merit, and is worthy of government support no matter which faith is supported, no matter how much anti-humanism is part of the faith, no matter what its impact has been and continues to be regarding threats against those who don't follow the 'right' faith in the 'right' way (Examples: Obama's former pastor stating "God damn America", and Muslim faiths that preach that attacks on America for religious reasons are acts of God if done in the name of Islam, those are the types of faiths that would receive support under Obama's version of the Bush faith-based initiative). -or- 2) Faith only has merit if the 'right' faith is sup- ported, and as such, government support of 'wrong' faiths invokes the risks warned against by the 'right' faith (of course, figuring out what the 'right' faith is, that's something that humans have attempted to do ever since the first faith was cooked up, and trying to do that, seems that naught but wars, terrorism, and torture is the result). -or- 3) Faith is separate from government, and should receive no support from government nor should it follow instructions from government that dic- tate how it can and cannot act regarding trying to induce people to follow a particular faith. -or- 4) Faith, no matter how many threats it contains, no matter how much anti-humanism has been and continues to be promoted, has merit simply by virtue of its positive immortality promises, and as such, the positive side of faith outweighs the negative side and should receive government sup- port even if government restricts how its money can adversely impact proselytization efforts of the faithful when federal money is involved. -or- 5) Separation of church and state is a foundational cornerstone of Democracy that should never be abridged and toyed with as if it's disposable, and all government efforts to help individuals should be secular in nature, noting full well that religious efforts to help individuals are oft-times simply an adjunct to their efforts to expand their influence, to proselytize, to seduce folks to view religion as a good no matter how many threats it contains. - - - For christians, helpful information to reference regarding both the positive immortality promise sides -and- the negative immortality threat sides of chrisitian faith. For ecumenists, muslims, hindus, and others who follow a religious faith not listed, the following would have to be expanded to include the positive immortality promise sides -and- the neagative immortality threat sides of the religions not listed 'neath ...
